Linocut is a relief printmaking technique in which a sheet of linoleum is carved to create an image. Ink applied to the non-recessed surface- is brought into contact with paper. The non-recessed surface will leave ink on the paper, whereas the recessed areas will not. In this print, the white of the paper indicates what has been carved away on the original linoleum block.
